RIO

Together with Dr. Adam Bruton, Dr. Daniel Eaves and Dr. David Wright, I am currently one of the RIO organizers. The Research in Imagery and Observation (RIO) group is open to anyone interested in Imagery and Observation research, see here.

I came across this interest group in the beginning of my PhD time, joined the group in 2013 for the first time during their meeting in Dublin, and felt being part of it from the very first moment on. Small group, focused discussions, and cumulative expertise. A warm welcome by Martin Edwards, a Bonjour to Aymeric Guillot, Aidan Moran who chaired the meeting that year, and all the others, Tadhg, Adam, Dave,… : I knew this was the conference to be. From that year on I’ve been member of the RIO group, and joined the meetings whenever possible.

Personally, I was very happy that this year’s annual RIO group meeting took place at our university – thanks all for coming to Bielefeld in 2018, was a great time catching up and discussing recent work on imagery and observation. Plus, it was a great pleasure to welcome our invited speakers, Prof. Cathy Craig from Queen’s University in Belfast, Northern Ireland and Prof. Shaun Boe from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada (special thanks again!).

That’s my RIO experience in short so far, and I’m looking forward to seeing it continuing.
